Making template background an editable region

oh goodness, i'm cry.  i've literally , without hyperbole spent days trying figure out on own.  have contacted adobe tech , willing pay ... no avail.  hoping there out there able me.  deadline have website finished monday, sept. 03 , stuck.  down question:

 

i have created webpage have saved template , want use master other templates , pages on site derived.  able change background in different sections of site.  page have created has image, other pages may have colour.  possible make background colour , image, set in page properties, editable region?  and, if so, how done?  if not possible, there suggestions work arounds allow me @ least flexibility in matter?

 

any on gratefully accepted , enormously appreciated.

is background want change on pages?  if need identify background want change on page.  once have identified question of entering simple css make necessary change.  example, if want change background of entire body of page entered @ top of page (after other main styles) take care of necessary change:

 

 

body {

    background-color: yellow;

    background-image: url('blue.png');

}

 

another method make relevant section editable decide want do.
