Thread: Ubuntu Natty login crash... any ideas?
ok, basically, i've installed nice new fresh 11.04. when problems started. downloaded, burt , verified amd64 (as have amd 64bit system) iso install. booted up, ran install fine (connected wireless, seems ubuntu ships broadcom wireless drivers of description) updates downloaded. setup fine. reboot, login aaaaand... crash. well, freeze. actually, bit of both. in environments except safe mode, @ point after login (randomly, doesn't take long) screen 'sticks'. stays on screen was, including pointer, no interation possible. have forcibly shut down (press power button) , re-boot.
have ideas? i've seen few similar problems, originate around graphics drivers (i'm using standard, because can't log in long enough in network-enabled environment download proper ones) , wireless (but if case, surley livecd session have crashed when wireless enabled, haven't added additional drivers. actually, haven't added additional software, once again because can't environment allows networking long enough so). besides, these problems seem show different symptoms mine.

forgot mention, installing 10.10 livecd (32bit) works fine-and appears include drivers broadcom, live session allows connection wifi. however, when update 10.10 11.04 (which still in 32bit, obvious reasons), problems start on again.

before dropping hardware on window, try repair package(s) booting in recovery mode (hold "shift" key down @ end of bios process see grub menu)
