Thread: Will ubuntu run on this computer?

hey guys, i've used windows forever now, , want try new, now, main pc must still have windows, because play games on , other stuff requires windows (my capture card etc).
anyway, have kinda crappy-old computer sitting next me, plan run ubuntu on... specs are:

intel pentium 4 2.8ghz (single-core)
1.8gb ddr1 ram
geforce 7600gt 256mb (it might 128, cant remember )
40gb ide drive

have trouble running ubuntu on this?

it should run fine. best bet try live cd/dvd http://www.ubuntu.com/download/ubuntu/download boot machine , see how ike , how runs. functions restricted due running cd feel it.

there lighter versions if not such lubuntu or xubuntu amongst others can check out here http://www.ubuntu.com/project/derivatives

After Effect warning: A problem occurred when processing OpenGL commands

i have after effects cs6 in computer cs5.5 installed. 64bit windows 7 ultimate 20gb memory , 2 amd radeon hd 6900 series display adapters drivers updated hour ago (driver date 27.7.2012, version 8.982.0.0).   when trying use after ecffects, error message " after effect warning: problem occurred when processing opengl commands " when clicking composition window.   what done? not much, i'm afraid. need older graphics driver. other disable second card or play configuration. unfortunately not smart person decided cs6 no longer need manual opengl control user, there's no way suppress within program force-revert software-only modes in case of such issues...   mylenium More discussions in After Effects adobe
