403 After Jupgrade and Directory Moving - Joomla! Forum - community, help and support

a lesson in not do. or need know how screwed up.

i practicing migrating live site 1.2.26 2+. this, made copy of live site , stuck in sub directory dev5. duplicated database live site , associated new site clone in dev5. there, ran jupgrade. created sub directory jupgrade. path mysite/dev5/jupgrade.

i developed site , working great couldn't run akeeba up. both configuration wizzard , failed. thought may conflict files in dev5 (the site clone). so, ran database host company , deleted files in dev5 - except jupgrade directory.

yeah, know, database backups aren't system backups. anyway, after deleting several files, re-checked site @ dev5/jupgrade. front end gone. 403 error - out of date or wrong path. - end still worked fine. so, copied on index.php files freshly downloaded joomla package. no luck. uploaded entire contents of joomla install configuration.php, .htaccess, , template directory. when did on site via fetch, replaced files there , didn't delete additional files - components , plugins. trying save time, used godaddy's ftp file manager. arrghhh! upload removed installed plugins.

so, began trying install components, starting gantry (rocket themes template architecture). got blocked by: jfolder::create: not create directory. read on this, checked , double checked paths tmp. can not fixed.

just requested system (godaddy) before threw out files. right now, i'm out full week of work. me started trying akeeba work...

so. question. folder created jupgrade complete site? seems me still relies on of files in parent, in case dev5. should have moved files in jupgrade dev5, allowing old files on written instead of cleaning out folder first?

any ideas here welcome. want know screwed up, how avoid in future, , how things right.
