Dreamweaver CS5.5 Unable to open most files outside of ~/Sites

i migrated mbp running snow leopard 1 running lion. cs5.5 moved old machine new, along files.

 

now, when try open html files not in ~/sites folder hierarchy, dreamweaver fail open them. there 2 general scenarios:

 

1. no error displayed if right-click , open dreamweaver;
2. a 'file not found' error displayed if try open file within dreamweaver using file >> open or using files pane in dreamweaver ui.

 

not files fail open. older html files can opened. however, it's not simple being able open files created before migration , not after -- of files i'm unable open created before migration. (i'm unable open created afterward.)

what i've tried far:

 

• repair permissions using disk utility.
• checked permissions see if there's visible different.
• reset pram.
• delete pcd cache file [this resolve issue acrobat pro exiting on start without error].
• full reinstall of cs.

 

does have insights or suggestions?

as possibly-related data:

 

• search & replace fails find instances of string when it's run against folder or entire current site. work reliably when run against open documents.
• if select multiple files in dreamweaver , right-click , select open, there's strong likelihood half of them open. it's necessary open files individuall or in small batches, , verify opened files intended.
