Embedding data in PDFs

i new adobe x pro (literally had program day).  have large number of network folders each containing several tiff images (2,000+ 10 mb 50 mb scans of construction drawings) wish convert pdfs.  i’ve done batch conversions on few of folders.  simple , resulted in nice looking reasonably-sized files of < 1 mb.  that’s not problem.  each image has unique non-descriptive file name.  creating pdfs same exact file name.  in excel spreadsheet, have list of each tiff it’s filename, along multiple columns of other data specific each tiff, such project name, project number, date, etc.

how can data best “attached” corresponding pdf (of same file name) , viewed others allow them find single pdfs or groups of related pdfs, i.e. scan pdfs same set of drawings.

portfolios new concept me , i’ve read on them little.  still, don’t see easy way merge spreadsheet’s data pdf’s embedded data - metadata, attributes, tags, bookmarks, whatever proper term is.  i’ve read little embedded indexes, again don’t see obvious way i’m talking automatically possible.

anything can offer point me in right direction appreciated.  may thinking wrong way altogether, suggestions welcome.  (btw – i’m not programmer or wiz.  i’m engineer in middle of hurricane.  please adjust responses accordingly.)
