Images look too light on new monitor

hi,

i hope can me. i've been working in cs5.5 on 2 dell desktops, using 2 dell ultrasharp monitors. color consistent on both. created files on newest of 2 computers, viewing them on ultrasharp 2311 monitor. files used produce both printed , digital books, , looked good. note - i'm not graphic designer. never calibrated monitors or made adjustments settings, either in system display or in ps.

i retired oldest computer , bought new dell computer, along ultrasharp 2711 monitor, has excellent reviews. files fine on two-year old computer/monitor washed out on new monitor. dell couldn't figure out problem , sent me new monitor, didn't change anything. technician @ adobe see problem , played settings, couldn't fix it. if go proof setup/monitor rgb gets closer, it's still light. never made adjustment on older monitor.

i know files produced on older monitor work, because i've seen finished printed , digital books. manipulating file on new system isn't answer. there must setting needs adjusted, neither dell nor adobe can me.

by way, older monitor looks fine connected new computer, it's not computer issue.

can point me in right direction?

thanks much,

chris
