Option missing to open images as layers in Photoshop.

the option edit in photoshop cs4 lightroom 4 , return fine. however, option open images layers in photoshop grayed out option open smart object or merge.

these other options work differently simple "edit in..".

 

the method work you, cs4, using photoshop standard external editor means of "dumb" interaction. lr work of converting image bitmp , saving tiff or psd. knows enough other program, tell operating system start program executable , pass file has been created. keeps eye on file, watching modifications saved other application.

 

the compatibility needed between 2 programs is: ps (or whatever) can understand tiff or psd made lr; , in return, ps (or whatever) can save modified file lr can display.

 

the extended options mention, rely on lr getting ps acr work of conversion, , in due course, ps take care of file creation too, , furthermore, tell lr file has been created where. partly because several conversions involved rather one; conversions made directly photoshop's memory space not yet onto disk; acr territory.

i have after effects cs6 in computer cs5.5 installed. 64bit windows 7 ultimate 20gb memory , 2 amd radeon hd 6900 series display adapters drivers updated hour ago (driver date 27.7.2012, version 8.982.0.0).   when trying use after ecffects, error message " after effect warning: problem occurred when processing opengl commands " when clicking composition window.   what done? not much, i'm afraid. need older graphics driver. other disable second card or play configuration. unfortunately not smart person decided cs6 no longer need manual opengl control user, there's no way suppress within program force-revert software-only modes in case of such issues...   mylenium More discussions in After Effects adobe
