Thread: Usb 3.0 external hard drive crashes ubuntu when plugged into usb 3.0 port

i bought iomega prestige 1 tb usb 3.0 portable external hard drive amazon, having problems in natty.

first off when plugged windows, noticed virtual cd iomega software , hard drive icon came up. don't want iomega software booted ubuntu format drive , rid of it.

when plugged drive in in ubuntu hard crashed, gave me black screen lot of esoteric writing on it.

rebooted ubuntu drive plugged usb 2.0 port , worked virtual cd , harddrive seperate again.

thought cd thing might cause of crash , ran partition editor, try , repartition drive. time gparted saw 1 hard drive 1 partition , bit of empty space @ end. deleted partition , created new 1 using space time, minus 1 or 2 megs on either end.

however, hasn't solved thing, still have virtual cd , hard drive seperate, , ubuntu still dies horrible death second plug drive usb 3.0 port...

know how rid of virtual cd, , how make work usb 3.0 in ubuntu?...

well ended returning drive because on windows chdsk revealed shed load of bad sectors , other errors.

on replacement drive, able solve part of problem deleting virtual cd partition using updated iomega utility 1.3.

has removed virtual cd in both windows , ubuntu, ubuntu won't recognise drive when plugged usb 3.0 port... i've posted in thread.

After Effect warning: A problem occurred when processing OpenGL commands

i have after effects cs6 in computer cs5.5 installed. 64bit windows 7 ultimate 20gb memory , 2 amd radeon hd 6900 series display adapters drivers updated hour ago (driver date 27.7.2012, version 8.982.0.0).   when trying use after ecffects, error message " after effect warning: problem occurred when processing opengl commands " when clicking composition window.   what done? not much, i'm afraid. need older graphics driver. other disable second card or play configuration. unfortunately not smart person decided cs6 no longer need manual opengl control user, there's no way suppress within program force-revert software-only modes in case of such issues...   mylenium More discussions in After Effects adobe
