Thread: Totally reset Gnome/Unity settings

hi folks,

think i've upgraded 10.04 10.10 11.04, , believe have cruft in system it's become unstable.

thought selectively rename folders in root (such .gnome, .gnome2, etc, while logged of (i.e. ctrl-alt-f1 console), didn't seem work.

power suggestions try? i'd prefer not copy external hard drive , re-install fresh. however, i'm using kde stability, neither gnome nor unity run well.

then didn't rename folders needed to.

make sure .gnome* , .gconf* , @ in .config .local - should majority of config files. if still isn't reset, move dot files folder, move ones know want (probably .themes .icons , .mozilla)
