Cannot login admin after clean install - empty users table - Joomla! Forum - community, help and support

actions taken resolve forum post assistant (v1.2.3) 6th november 2012 wrote:problem : when try login admin, login screen , enter username , password , submit. screen returns same one, without error message , not logged in.
1. able go through entire install without error
2. have tried 2.5.7.and latest 3.0 several times, same result
3. have tried installing , without sample data. sample goes in fine , able navigate site without login
4.i have tried install db on separate machine (preferred) , same machine (localhost) same result
5. have noticed while installing, there no mysqli option. after install if try change mysqli in configuration.php, , not avail error
6. after , install check db , there no user in user table
7. have tried manually enter , user in _users , _user_usergroup_map witch made no difference.
8. not see errors in php error file.
