Having Media Management Troubleshooting!

so i've finished working on edit using c300 footage in pp5.5.

 

ive been working of external drive, , coming online , custom in post house im at, want me online on different drive. pritty standard scnario few solutions , shouldnt problem.... except, reason dp shoot kept re-setting file nameing settins everytime downloaded camera cards. there many multiple duplicates of clip names!

 

a simple copy project & media new drive requires media re-link, files have same name proving impractical.

 

ive tried project manager copy project new drive, , renamed every media file _(number). 're-name media' checked project manager fails gets duplicated file name (i guess prevent overwriting file). incidentially pm not seem re-naming files, though keeping native c300 media directory structure, maybe re-naming folder , associated media, meta data, etc while keeping structure step far it.

 

now im compleetly stumped, has got ideas sort out. cleaver script re-name original media files wile letting pp know each media file called?

please consider sending worded letters of discontent sony, panasonic, canon , other camera makers, explaining them how asinine solid state media system is.

 

we need in 1 file - video, audio, timecode, metadata, thumbnails, spanning info, etc, can rename files @ (thus avoiding duplicates) without breaking functionality.  know, way worked decades before solid state media came along.
