Looking for system bottleneck, confused about system requirements

hi, thought had built system work me there seems bottleneck.  problem cant work out it.

 

first project mixture of canon 550d dslr footage , panasonic avchd (from prosuma handy-cam).  avchd footage seems play ok try playing dslr footage memory usige shoots , loose sync (even avchd footage, if try play after playing dslr footage sync out, have restart pp).

 

i have i5 550 (its 3g i5 , acording performance tests @ http://www.cpubenchmark.net/high_end_cpus.html outperforms i7 such i7 975 3.33ghz).  playing @ 1/4 rez, cpu spends of time below 25%.  seems go quite high when start playing goes down 25% quickly.

 

i using seagate 3tb 7200 drive shows > 90mb/s write , > 100 mb/s read.  have 8gb system memory. have nvida 550 ti gpu.

 

i running on mac.  did try installing trial on windows (same box) , sync seems better grinds halt , not play (all fast disks formatted mac may disk speed causing problem, little under 50mb/s).

 

so bottleneck.  ime kind of surprised thought possible edit dslr footage (at 1/4 rez) without getting top notch laptop, guess believed hype (i using desktop).

 

in terms of stuff editing documentary/factual straight cuts few dissolves , few titles. 

 

are there decent articles giving recomended , optimal system specifications, ones found on adobe site vage.

your main problem appears single disk, below minimum requirements. hardware specs marginal such source material , running mac os not help.

After Effect warning: A problem occurred when processing OpenGL commands

i have after effects cs6 in computer cs5.5 installed. 64bit windows 7 ultimate 20gb memory , 2 amd radeon hd 6900 series display adapters drivers updated hour ago (driver date 27.7.2012, version 8.982.0.0).   when trying use after ecffects, error message " after effect warning: problem occurred when processing opengl commands " when clicking composition window.   what done? not much, i'm afraid. need older graphics driver. other disable second card or play configuration. unfortunately not smart person decided cs6 no longer need manual opengl control user, there's no way suppress within program force-revert software-only modes in case of such issues...   mylenium More discussions in After Effects adobe
