Please help with setup problems
hello, i'm new premier elements 10 , i'm stuck @ project setup stage. i'm reading book on using premier, attempted experiment it, , i've contacted desk (they no help). i'm hoping forum, appears filled knowledgeable people, can me set , started on new project.
i used video production when still shooting on tape (yes, long ago!), , there no "project setup"-in fact, there no computer editing @ all! want make few how-to videos both personal project and, more importantly, video resume. resume isn't video work, way, technology educator position @ place called techshop.
my end goal have good-looking (i.e. decent resolution , size) video can both upload youtube , have either dvd-type video or simple file can put on removable storage media (probably thumb drive or flash drive) , mail prospective employer. understand achieve editing final project , "sharing" 2 different formats-ok, saving in format (unclear which) , uploading youtube right premier (and need figure out how onto channel).
now come issue. don't know format use! , don't know find out should using. heck, don't know aspect ratio youtube uses. original idea output 4:3, sd final product because a) i'm familiar framing kind of video , b) figured it'd viewable on monitor, regular or widescreen, no clipping or letterboxing. last important because wanted folks on youtube watch @ full screen , clarity , size possible.
i shot original footage on cheap panasonic hc-v10 camera (i know, need better, have). think shot of @ 920p resolution, , i'm pretty sure came out @ 16:9 aspect ratio. little of footage, stuff don't have time reshoot, @ 1020p.
however, think shot myself in foot here-i didn't use premier grab footage project! filled sd card, moved files off sd card manually onto hard drive , erased them sd card. in .mp4 format, , can not go , reshoot. i'm learning, however, premier picky it'll work , need somehow either import these files project, or convert them program (i have 1 called wondershare seems nice) , import them.
all having been said, here questions, , hope if you'll forgive me if they're noob or have been discussed:
1) need output in 4:3 aspect ratio? idea? or should really, leave alone @ 16:9?
2) there easy(ish) way either convert aspect ratio inside project (remember, don't want output youtube or normal file letterboxing) or before start editing?
3) considering raw footage i'm starting , end product want end with, how need set premier project when create it?
4) best way these mp4's project?
this has been long post , appreciate sticking me , helping me out. hope can same someday, , in advance help!
andrew
according specs online, camcorder shoots in avchd lite @ 1280x720 60p.
when start project, select project specs , should fine. assuming panasonic's online specs correct.
but won't 4:3 video. you'll 16x9 video.
this camcorder shoots in 640x480 avc video -- i'd stay away if plan edit in premiere elements. it's not quite neat fit avchd lite.
