Text stroke and fill transparencies?

i'm trying title job text fill has transparency settting (to show of photo behind) text's stroke opaque. in cs5.5 transparency/opacity setting "text" effects both text's fill , stroke, stroke has same "see-through" @ fill. not desireable.

my, "old style" attempt fix duplicate text box, paste in place, , have lower version have fill only, transparency setting (80%). upper version have text stroke only, no tranparency (100%). but, when fill set "none" on upper text, stroke moves "outside" "centered" visually choking font. align stroke setting grayed-out on selected text...actually, it's inconsistent...sometimes, of boxes (outside, center, inside) clickable, regardless, there no effect.

my next bright idea convert top layer text outlines, move stroke "outside". now, stokes of letters interfere overlapping other letters (and sometimes, weird).

i suppose option have different tranparency settings on fill , stroke of text new feature in cs6. company bought 5.5, upgrade wont while (if our luck continues, 32 days before cs7 comes out)

any help, solutions, or work-arounds appreciated.

thanks,

ben

i don't see way separate text stroke fill effects in cs6, either.

stacking text , outlines isn't going work becasue lose kerning information, why not convert text outlines , applythe effects outlined text? long aren't using uotmated bullets or numbering, or type adornments underlines or paragraph rules should workable.
