Thread: Divx on Windows Guest?

i've set few windows guest machines using virtualbox 4.0.6 on ubuntu 10.10 host system. i've installed guest additions no problems , can achieve resolution full-screen, seamless etc working no problem @ all. in windows 7 vm aero won't work.

don't need work aesthetic purposes want make work me. after few quick searches found although i've given guests both 2d video , 3d acceleration of host, because linux uses opengl , not divx won't allow me aero or run few games i'd run either.

far can see there 2 possible solutions

  • install/emulate divx on ubuntu host, , pass down guest system
  • install divx onto guest system manually - possibly through using graphics card driver disc.


wondering if either or both of things possible. if installed or emulated divx on host need function @ moment, not affecting compiz or nvidia twinview. if installed replacement drivers in virtualbox still ability have mouse pointer integration.

(i installed guest additions in safemode enable 3d stuff installed)

edit: thought, possible make windows 7 vm use opengl rendering aero @ all? option 3

After Effect warning: A problem occurred when processing OpenGL commands

i have after effects cs6 in computer cs5.5 installed. 64bit windows 7 ultimate 20gb memory , 2 amd radeon hd 6900 series display adapters drivers updated hour ago (driver date 27.7.2012, version 8.982.0.0).   when trying use after ecffects, error message " after effect warning: problem occurred when processing opengl commands " when clicking composition window.   what done? not much, i'm afraid. need older graphics driver. other disable second card or play configuration. unfortunately not smart person decided cs6 no longer need manual opengl control user, there's no way suppress within program force-revert software-only modes in case of such issues...   mylenium More discussions in After Effects adobe
