Thread: FireFox won't display text unless run in root

ok, strange. don't use firefox much, default browser google chrome. i've noticed things flash on sites runs smoother in firefox. yesterday opened ff because facebook giving me issues, wanted see if chrome or fb. now, haven't run ff in few weeks, , i've noticed few updates had rolled in since last use.

when opened ff , went fb login page wouldn't display correctly, , in fact display no text whatsoever except links japanese , chinese fb pages. assumed fb since having issues it. later, tried again , got same loading issue. ran google search ff issues fb , got same problem google search results, got logo , little search icons, no text.

tried think of , asked think of including:

  • renaming and/or removing ./mozilla
  • running rm -rf .firefox
  • uninstalling , reinstalling firefox
  • removing firefox 4.01 , upgrading 5.0
  • creating new profile

thing can make ff work run alt+f2 gksu firefox. allows work out issues. has come across issue or similar? i'm including couple screen shots of looks when it's not working correctly. note: these pages have finished loading, text isn't "white on white" it's not displaying, view source of these pages shows complete page loaded including text isn't being rendered.
attached images attached images

one rule of troubleshooting goes this:

if works root not user, permissions error.

mine
700 jj users ~/.mozilla/firefox/*
644 jj users ~/.mozilla/firefox/profiles.ini

yours may jj:jj on different os.
