Thread: Mission Possible: Computer needs CPR for Hospital, Help Please!


hey everyone,

ok, if can appreciate this! mother in hospital , going there few days or more . have old laptop ussually use command line stuff, want able connect through skype her. problem computer prolly 15 years old, lol. netbook-laptop. need find best way tweak crap out of thing run can. here working with. not sure how info hardware, maybe of do.


specs:

dell latitude x200

need:

1) graphic drivers, don't know check hardware info. assuming it's standard card still in considering it's laptop.

2) audio drivers if don't come os iso. sure alsa mixer work tho.

3) "readyboost" - linux style option, have feeling going swap area, if there better more efficient way love hear it. have usb 2gb thumb drive wanna use ram think given age work better old chip in there anyway.

4) right hard drive wiped, there no operating system. can download linux os, need find best, user friendly, light weight option possible. mother isn't 100 years old or anything, she's not savy me least computers easy use 50/50 performance. thinking of putting on ubuntu 9.10, if there equivalent of "win xp lite" out there love try it.

anyway can on clock thing, tweak out make more efficient good. mean dinosaur not going pretend it's other is, needs entertainment , want date min min communication , home on computer day seems work.


can think of lot!. plan on getting in hospital stuff worked out , can bring computer her.
