Thread: Runescape issue with sound and java solved on ubuntu 11.04

well amazing, after 4 months , after posted on here have cracked it.

on 11.04 natty ubuntu

have switched classic view in system login

have installed

gnome alsa mixer

pulse audio

latest java mine jre-6u26-linux-x64.bin installed via terminal usr/local symbolic link mozilla plugins , have removed icedtea symbolic link, instructions on java page download .bin file

removed hot thingy java cant remember called exactly, removed update manager

if put "about : plugins" address bar of firefox see have

have gone through , lost loyalty points , bought new comp , sound card here solution getting sound in runescape:

***check nothing muted in gnome alsa mixer

(and kept trying different combinations of , sound preferences until had music playing - mean music - played lots of muse till heard it.) haven't got speakers on comp headset, may shouting quite while now.

***once know have sound, use synaptic , find alsa-oss , alsaplayer-oss , install them.

have music on comp, music on runescape , sound effects on ubuntu 11.04 have find alsa-oss compatibility installations make oss play through alsa player simple


repeat once know have sound on computer, use synaptic - find in synaptic , install these 2 packages

alsa-oss

alsaplayer-oss


remove package manager other java versions except icedtea (some other programs use this)

using firefox go java site , test java - should not work, if have remove symbolic links in mozilla.

find mozilla plugins folder in /usr/lib/mozilla
, remove link iced tea , other java versions
can in terminal
(all instructions on java page)


can download latest java linux same place .bin file , instructions on page instructions removing symbolic links using terminal.
(put file /usr/local install it)


mistake in instructions on official java page symbolic link plugin ( li -s) has go folder /usr/lib/mozilla/plugins
not firefox/plugins

iced tea doesn't work anywhere near latest official java site.

make sure graphics driver installed (administration additional drivers)

install using software center gmome alsa mixer if on gnome linux , pulse audio , alsa player make sure sound ok on computer, may have mess around settings.

install 2 files , sound should work
