Thread: Terraria (via Steam via PlayOnLinux)
briefly: i'm using steam via playonlinux, , bought legal copy of terraria aftenoon, can't play, @ all.
know there walkthroughs this. problem seems atypical.
i've been here , i've been here , i've been here, , i've done said including non-overlapping things, , done them far can tell.
(i upgraded wine 1.3.21, installed mono 2.10 , 2.8, installed .net framework 4, installed xna 4, copied files told copy folders terraria folder, installed directx 9, stuff.)
still, it's not working.
meanwhile, if circumvent steam , go folder terraria files have been downloaded , run terraria.exe through wine, parsing error message - walkthroughs i've linked predicted, that's - when continue i'm told should, tells me launch via steam instead. i'm guessing game has been fixed now, can't access it.
if launch via steam, window saying "preparing launch terraria..." split second, , goes away , nothing else happens.
other steam games (thief iii, half-life 2, episodes 1 , 2, team fortress 2, portal) work properly, or @ least launch properly. it's limited game.
i've repeatedly exited , restarted steam, no dice. i've rebooted altogether, no dice. i've deleted game , reinstalled it, no dice.
i'm using ubuntu 10.04 lts.
wine set pretend it's windows xp.
tl;dr: having followed other linux gurus' advice, steam still refuses start game.
(help us, ubuntu forums. you're hope.)
um. guys? ideas @ all?
excuse me self-bumping, sort of serious last sentence. if not guys can figure out, don't know else short of giving up.
, make me sad.
