Thread: Unable to boot from USB flash drive

i trying install ubuntu 11.04 bootable usb flash drive. couldnt create usb using inbuilt usb creator came .iso file had downloaded, had used universal usb installer create it. took lot of time created bootable pendrive.

had copied contents of pendrive created folder on hard disk , named 'pendrive'. later had formatted pendrive , used other purposes.

today, wanted install ubuntu on computer, copied contents of folder pendrive (instead of creating bootable usb drive using universal usb installer again) , renamed pendrive 'pendrive'. when tried boot (i had changed boot order of computer accordingly) got message, 'remove removable cd or media , press button restart'. until removed pendrive system refused start , unable install ubuntu. why did happen?

because usb drive needs made bootable. can using cfdisk -b option on command line.

easier way download unetbootin though.
