CS6 Record Monitor Not Working

cs6 record monitor not working.  has seen or know how fix it?  in advance helping.  i'm using trial version of cs6 update 5.0.1 version 7.

 

i can record lps turntable , audition cs6 records fine.  can playback recording , can hear fine.  i'm not able monitor or hear music while recording.  works fine older program (peak). i'm looking replace peak software bias since they've gone out of business.

 

i'm using mac os x version 10.7.4 (lion).

 

the audio hardware preferences in audiontion set to:

device class: coreaudio (this choice)

default input: built-in line input (source turntable through phono equalizer)

default output: built-in line output (going denon reciever)

master clock: in:built-in line input

clock source: internal

i/o buffer size: 1024

sample rate: 44100

 

then going "settings" button brings window audio devices (audio midi setup).

looking @ built-in line input values:

clock source: default

source: line in

format: 44100.0 hz, 2ch-24bit integer

ch: master (grayed out)

ch: 1, value=0.652, mute box not checked, thru box grayed out , not set

ch: 2, value=0.652, mute box not checked, thru box grayed out , not set

 

i sure hope can this.  in advance.

monitoring in waveform view depend on whether audio device has headphone monitoring mode or not.  audition meter input signal, not replay when recording.  (this different in multitrack view.)  built-in devices on mac systems, pcs, not offer external monitoring.
