Mobile/Regular Site Configuration Questions - Joomla! Forum - community, help and support

i'm trying "design" best long term joomla configuration our company. independent insurance agency , have 2 different branches differing brands/color schemes. goal reduce administration as possible (if possible) & utilize responsive template (nano 2).

the 2 brands each have lot of similar content , different.

i'd have mobile "site" has different content our main site. each mobile site (m.brand1.com , m.brand2.com have different content). here questions...

should have 4 instances of joomla? 1 mobile & 1 desktop each of 2 branches?

also, recommend method/component give me ability route traffic each site based on configurations? if went www.brand1.com route m.brand1.com if smartphone (not tablets or desktops)? cool if there override put link on m.brand1.com go "desktop site" (override redirect component) , vice versa "mobile site" link on desktop site.

thanks in advance!

well,

it's not advisable have separate mobile site, , desktop site serve content. unless absolutely need too, have mobile application or different content. responsive hide, , reveal elements of page want visible on device , device b.

for example if have slider looks great on desktop when displayed on mobile phone pictures make page far long or don't hide element on mobile. responsive rank naturally better in time, when google enforces it, made changes people reporting serps on mobile google.

there's little point in using nano2 if serving content on 2 sites, since beating objective of responsive in first place, , you'd better of having 2 sites not responsive.

furthermore, in terms of method of detecting device may on can done using java-script detects users browsers redirects, again should not required if using responsive template, , shouldn't required redirect it. if using 2 forms example, 1 looks different on mobile, , on desktop should use media query css adjust accordling, new tend. m.sites.com becoming pointless responsive takes on , accepted becoming standard.
