Thread: Docking Station Help Needed

hello everyone. i'm using kubuntu 11.04 on dell latitude e6410. while @ home, use docking station, , i'm hoping can assistance making "behave."

docking station works, if laptop docked before turning on, works expected. if undock without shutting down first, or dock laptop while it's still turned on, i'm asking trouble. seems me whatever process controls docking station doesn't have intelligence far turning on , turning off appropriate screens when docking , undocking.

basically, want achieve this. when dock, should turn off laptops lcd , turn on external monitor. when undock, monitor should turn off , display should return laptop. found commands while googling achieve this:

the problem is, while i'm accomplished linux user, i'm braindead far how make laptop these commands automatically. hoping maybe can me set up?
