Thread: What to do when things go wrong?
it's second day on ubuntu , i've managed corrupt filesystem twice already, both times after hard reboot. couldn't repair filesystem ubuntu live cd , had use slitaz live cd instead, @ least got ubuntu booting again. i'm using 10.04.
main issue don't know after goes wrong. ie. system freezes, no response user input or gui goes black , cursor left responsive.
keys should press try , recover (like ctrl alt del in windows)?
well, there way repair linux partition within windows xp?
alt+ctrl+f[1-6] different tty's. i.e. command line.
though sounds you're having bigger problem. if you're using ext4 (which should default), disk checking takes minute. it's possible there's hardware error (i.e. bad hard disk). might want smart status of drive.
