Thread: EDUP 802.11n USB adapter (RTL8192CU) slow speed

hello everybody,

i'm natty user , i've bought edup wifi-n usb dongle embeds realtek rtl8192cu chipset (id 0bda:8176). downloaded last driver realtek , got driver built supplied install script.

first weird thing if plug usb dongle os booted, ubuntu crashes. if boot os dongle plugged, seems fine, can connect ap , surf flawlessly.

second weird thing after seconds of web surfing or downloads, speed of connection drops summarily , stays indefinitely. have 5mbps internet , can download files @ 625kb/s rate, dongle transfer rates doesn't reach 100kb/s. same behavior can noted within local network transfers.

i've tested dongle on windows 7 , works long time period, thus, can conclude cannot hardware issue.

know realtek drivers bit immature driver issue?

think? here have experience these new realtek chipsets , ubuntu? i've searched around problem , wasn't able find single post similar problem.

appreciated.

in advance.

i have same issue.

have compiled 8192cu driver module supplied realtek along unbranded mini-n usb dongle (also ids 0bda:8176). works brilliantly short period after connection, drops next-to-no connectivity @ point in first 5 minutes post connection.

i'm on lucid, 2.6.32-24-generic-pae

i've tried ndiswrapper , can't function @ either.

smashing.
