Thread: Empathy was deleted after a crash

hello,
on ubuntu 11.04.
chatting on empathy, when disconnected.
tried starting again, failed wasn't installed on system. however, after successful logoff attempt, system apparently recovered crash described in bug report: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+s...5?comments=all

after tried fixing broken packages:
* via synaptic package manager: failed
* using:
sudo apt-get update
update package list.

sudo apt-get autoclean
clean partial packages.

sudo apt-get clean
clean apt cache.

sudo apt-get autoremove
clean unneeded dependencies.
if while doing can identify broken package code forcefully remove it.


did not use latter, not sure package name applicable.
sudo dpkg --remove -force --force-remove-reinstreq package name

what version of ubuntu? have done recent upgrade?
try removing empathy through synaptic , choose "complete removal". in /home/user folder folders connected empathy.....might hidden file ".empathy".....i recommend rename backup , reinstall empathy.
