Thread: Keyboard shortcut to printing some text


hi. wondering, there tool program shortcut, alt+z otput "<%="?
got logicech wave keyboard, , on windows has manufactors program programing stuff, under nix not ported, such drivers too.

assuming running gnome, there "keyboard shortcuts" program, can system -> preferences. if scroll bottom, there section "custom commands", can add own, , set key combinations want activate them. best way use make directory scripts want, $home/bin, , make them activated shortcuts.

outputting text window has focus problem of own, , unfortunately not 1 know how solve. let know if run across it, , if else knows how, please chime in.

edit: wow, hour later. program "xdotool", in repositories. if write script execute "xdotool type 'hello'", , bind keyboard shortcut, computer act if typed "hello" in whatever window has focus when activate it. should want. luck!
