Thread: Ubuntu 11.04 - permission constantly denied even to root

hi,
installed ubuntu 11.04 (using wubi on 64-bit windows 7). seemed working fine until got down main reason installed in first place - have work on linux-only softwares.

can't build anything, i've tried 4 different programs needed building. i'm running terminal root still "permission denied" if run ./configure or make.

use sudo -i, i've tried chmod , chown nothing makes difference, never have permission.

here's example:

code:
root@ubuntu:/media/560496170495f9e7/srilm# make world make: execvp: /media/560496170495f9e7/srilm/sbin/machine-type: permission denied
i used chmod 755 on machine-type, no difference.

please help!

the ntfs filesystem used windows doesn't support user rights files. should copy files ext4 partition (e.g. in home directory) first. afterwards, make executable , run configure script.
