Adjusting contrast in a PDF document with multiple pages

i have seen question asked several times in various forums , never gets answer:  how adust contrast , brightness of scanned pdf if has several pages?  can't in acrobat, , there no third-party tools i've found work.  if have photoshop, there solution problem, not require adjusting every page in document.  use high-speed duplex hopper-fed scanner copy books or articles need school work (no, don't violate copyright giving them away).  there no way adjust contrast @ scanner level, end 700-page document light or dark.

1.  use acrobat extract pages separate files.

2.  use adobe bridge tools>rename serially rename pages, photoshop sees them in right order , can reassembled later.  there other free or cheap tools batch renaming work equally well.

3.  experiment settings on sample page in photoshop, until find 1 works.  use auto-contrast, or adjust curves myself.

4.  perform whatever other manipulation need on document page, such resizing or changing mode greyscale.

5.  create action following same steps.

6.  run batch process on pages in undone folder, saving them done folder.  override open , save settings avoid dialogue boxes , on.

7.  reassemble document individual pages using combine function in acrobat.

i use method frequently, making small adjustments action necessary.  takes while large document, solves lot of problems.  1 problem hard solve, however, caused scanning cheap paper, makes scans come out blotchy , grey, , hard re-contrast without losing resolution.  acrobat can solve problem optimize document functions, in general, it's easier scan better, whiter paper rescue later.  1 solution scan 1 side @ time, , use third-party pdf tool interleave pages.

if have lot of documents can use more or less same settings, create droplet macro in photoshop , drag page folders it, instead of running batch.

hope helps.

thanks posting solution.
