I do a lot ofhow much RAM does ps cs5/6 ext use with CAF?

how ram photoshop cs5 extended use content-aware-fill?

please state size of image, how many layers have (makes difference).

please 2 different size images.

i use cs6 numbers well, since current ps.

should simple psd possible.

i need know 32-bit , 64-bit machine.

i use these 2 numbers making calculator basic calculations how memory required run photoshop given:

  • image size
  • content-aware fill
  • radial blur
  • number of layers
  • content-aware move (in cs6)

this means several types  of test plans:

32-bit ps ext cs5:

64-bit ps ext cs5:

32-bit ps ext cs6:

64-bit ps ext cs6:

if know of more memory-intensive operation, such radial blur (maybe that's cpu-intensive), interested in knowing this.

if know of more memory-intensive operation, such radial blur (maybe that's cpu-intensive), interested in knowing this.

the number of layers seem multiply ram required in cs5. think.  amount of ram required photoshop seems much-talked subject , subject of variableness, , wanted nail down little.

i thought make calculator can estimate amount of ram required system do, say, multilayer gigapixel content-aware-fill stuff in ps, know lot of. hear ram requirements has changed in cs6. interesting characterize it.

i making here: http://jesusnjim.com/calculators/photoshop-ram-usage.html

and can completed set of numbers infor cs5 or , ready

you can tell how memory in use doing [windows-logo-flag-key]taskmgr[enter] or doing ctrl-alt-del , bringing task manager,

clicking on prcesses tab,and looking photoshop.exe

if don't see mem usage, view, select columns.

it's lot of testing, know, should not take long finish. think might lot of folks when trying figure out how spec ps box.

i've got tell you, reading through daunting, less following , producing measured results.

on occasion i've asked people try doing things , measuring performance.  few answers if any.

by way, photomerge seems need lot of ram, , huge amount of scratch disk space.

the bottom line this:  more ram better, more better.

i'll add:  lightning fast scratch disk access observed quite helpful.
