Thread: BleachBit - Can't Wipe Free Space

i have 500 gb hard drive connected via sata/usb adapter. after connecting it, did basic format of drive no problem. attempted "wipe free space" option under file menu in bleachbit, selecting external drive, , began process. gives me time estimate of 300 minutes, but, instead, after few minutes says "done" , gives me message "[errno 27] file large. disk space recovered: 0 files recovered: 0 errors: 1"

happened? need volume wiped? thanks.

bleachbit's wipe free space still experimental (afaik).
try dd
code:
dd if=/dev/zero of=/dev/sda bs=1m
replace sda actual device-hard drive; careful this, if specify wrong drive, data replaced zeros.
after dd done, can format drive preferred file system.
