Thread: Flashing Mobo Bios in 10.10 with an .exe file (because I sort of have to)
i'm stuck.... reading isn't covering i'm after...
in short - advice on how install .exe bios update live 10.10 usb thumb drive?
laptop (toshiba satellite a21 -> psafgc-ms608c ) seams have bios in trouble.
system seldom boots. when fails....it nothing visual on monitor. monitor on..but remains blank no audio que's.
repeated attempts may lucky hit , system tries boot.
when does, windows os on system gives cmos error in white text on black screen , stops. period. reboot required else.
did bios - hit 'reset defaults'...the bios did not repsond great.
example: changing boot order resulted in 'blanking out' of options being pushed down. changing menu's , returning refreshed screen , options cold read again.
put ubuntu 10.10 live usb thumb drive in - , hit power button 2 days - , presto - ubuntu running - data backup done!
downloaded bios firmware - have on system. it's .exe
opened , see there's .vbs file manages actual .exe utilities... don't know if there's more can do.
please note - optical drive down (has been months).
i'll in morning try take further.
thank much.
interesting. sure not hardware problem? boot part makes me think hardware , not firmware.
bios patch not win32 executable, high-bit dos 1 if that. vbs comment interesting though. find out requirements it, make sure integrity sound, , not mess written for.
alternatively, if worth saving, bring local repair guy/gal should able make new whether hardware problem or not. (not chain, tend less experienced actual repair in experience)
