Thread: Shift-Insert on a numeric pad from vmware

hi, i'm using ubuntu installed on vmware virtual machine , worked find except accessing shift-insert (shift-0 on numeric pad) in vmware console window (windows xp). i'm 1 of used using shift-ins , ctrl-ins clipboard , insert 0 on numeric pad (num-lock off). configuration shift-numeric keys give numbers (as if numlock on)

noticed:
- problem not present if use tightvnc windows remote access (works expected)
- problem doesn't go out if install open-vm-tools (installed
apt-get install --no-install-recommends open-vm-tools
- vmware console works correctly if system installed on virtual machine windows

part of chain can produce such results?

don't know enough vmware know if helps or not.

in ubuntu, if use numeric keypad in same way used using in windows, need make change in keyboard layout.

this:
1/ open keyboard application. in 11.04, can open applications , type keyboard. open keyboard preferences application.
2/ once open, select layouts tab.
3/ on layouts tab, select options button.
4/ on options menu, select miscellaneous options folder
5/ make sure shift numeric keypad works in ms windows line item checked. if not, check it.
6/ select close, close options menu
7/ select close again, close keyboard preferences application.
