Thread: Wireless Config Vostro 1500

i'm new linux , ubuntu. downloaded ubuntu 11.04 few days ago on dell vostro 1500 (i have dell xps 15z may try configure later). know there few other threads on forum regarding laptop, i'd have personalized/individual don't confused.

first thing want wireless working. have broadcom dw1390 wireless card. type 'iwconfig' in terminal , this:

wlan0 ieee 802.11bg essid:off/any
mode:managed access point: not-associated tx-power=0 dbm
retry long limit:7 rts thr:off fragment thr:off
power management:off

lo , eth0 'no wireless extensions.'

topic said type 'sudo aptitude update' , 'sudo aptitude upgrade' terminal. command line reads: '[sudo] password mike:' try type password, nothing happens. won't let me type anything. need 'sudo' before 2 commands? , can work without having active internet connect on vostro 1500?

about wireless: have checked in additional drivers whether there proprietary driver wireless card? if install it. (you of course need wired connection this.)

apt: whenever type password in ubuntu (command line) nothing shows up. type - correctly - , press enter.

After Effect warning: A problem occurred when processing OpenGL commands

i have after effects cs6 in computer cs5.5 installed. 64bit windows 7 ultimate 20gb memory , 2 amd radeon hd 6900 series display adapters drivers updated hour ago (driver date 27.7.2012, version 8.982.0.0).   when trying use after ecffects, error message " after effect warning: problem occurred when processing opengl commands " when clicking composition window.   what done? not much, i'm afraid. need older graphics driver. other disable second card or play configuration. unfortunately not smart person decided cs6 no longer need manual opengl control user, there's no way suppress within program force-revert software-only modes in case of such issues...   mylenium More discussions in After Effects adobe
