Thread: 12" IBook G4 & Ubuntu 10.10, hardware?

someone gave me 12" ibook g4 wouldn't boot, no os disks otherwise ok.

first apple/ mac product i'm kind of learning go, i'm casual ubuntu user, i'm still learning on front also.

so, wasn't able fix boot problem on mac os downloaded ubuntu 10.10 ppc, installed it, messed something, reinstalled , it's working, although few known bugs. (no flash support, battery monitor (?) or sleep mode)

1st question is; how can find out hardware g4 has? there's no model number on case can find. there utility or app can run see hardware it's equipped with, ie processor speed, cd/dvd burner, ram etc.

q #2; assuming has cd burner, can u 10.10 burn cds bootable on ibook .dmg file? able dual boot ubuntu , original mac os if possible.
still running ubuntu 8.04/ win xp on desktop, have cd/dvd burner, different hardware keep burning mac bootable disk?

in advance , tips!

the page link not 100% relate powerpc stuff, should give idea if try terminal commands. breaks each component terminal command. give try , see how go!
