Thread: Cannot boot: need to edit xorg.conf file

i attempting setup dual screen editing xorg.conf file, when restart, before logon screen, message 'mountall: plymouth disconnected'. can bios menu , boot usb (as i'm doing right now). i'm 99% sure plymouth error due meddling .conf file, , @ point want computer back. of possible note: can still type after plymouth error far no commands i've entered have sparked response.

i'm right running off of 'try ubuntu' usb drive, , notice if head /etc/x11/xorg.conf, it's same edited file, , in addition, backup created, xorg.conf_backup, there. however, from-boot-cd version, looks read or locked or something.

in case, want solve finding someway restore xorg.conf former glory, meaning i'm looking way edit text files 'outside' system.

solved problem on own; although seems gui versions of files locked, accessed hd (listed as external, running usb), ran 'sudo cp' , put original.

listening!
