Thread: Puzzled by Aptitude during install of 11.04--what's it supposed to do?

hello,
have used various linux distros 10 years, new ubuntu.

installing 11.04_64-bit on amd athlon ii machine. figured out how partition 2 disks , load grub on disk 2. other choices i've worked out.

however, aptitude new me. isn't intuitive, far pressing "g" twice seemed download large number of packages installed, next screen looks same i'm not sure if happened.

web docs @ https://help.ubuntu.com/11.04/instal...ls.html#pkgsel refers step of instal briefly, not saying expect or how proceed. fried q (quit) aptitude, got error message , went main task list @ install software. started process over.

also, contrary stated in docs, never asked become root.

aptitude merely terminal package manager people prefer apt-get. if want intuitive might happier using gui package manager synaptic.

After Effect warning: A problem occurred when processing OpenGL commands

i have after effects cs6 in computer cs5.5 installed. 64bit windows 7 ultimate 20gb memory , 2 amd radeon hd 6900 series display adapters drivers updated hour ago (driver date 27.7.2012, version 8.982.0.0).   when trying use after ecffects, error message " after effect warning: problem occurred when processing opengl commands " when clicking composition window.   what done? not much, i'm afraid. need older graphics driver. other disable second card or play configuration. unfortunately not smart person decided cs6 no longer need manual opengl control user, there's no way suppress within program force-revert software-only modes in case of such issues...   mylenium More discussions in After Effects adobe
