Thread: unity dash search window unresponsive

in unity desktop pressing super/win key or clicking on unbuntu logo @ top-left corner of screen opens dash, search applications not graphically listed. starting today, can no longer enter text in unity dash search dialog window, disabling quick search.

have seen bug report

it's listed low priority. trying give unity honest effort adapt it, , don't think broken feature low priority, since it's 1 of immediate methods locating tools not displayed. prefer see full menus default, , not have selection dumbed-down or pretty-fied me. broken search makes unity harder adjust to.

else having symptom or know fix? don't suggest alternate ways find tools. know are. dash quick search supposed "convenient" method. yeah, , know can revert "unbuntu classic." go away oneiric, i'm trying used unity.

does run window (alt+f2) work? try opening , typing "gnome-panel". if works, old panel old menu temporary workaround, , can add symptom bug thread.

far solution, have none. else will. meanwhile, if don't mind losing custom compiz settings, try "compiz --reset" , see if helps.
