I need advice on a new PC to run my CS5

i grateful thoughts on wisdom of new build? limited in knowledge. have 1 previous build. thank ahead of time thoughts.

 

i hope order parts new dedicated video editing pc. while want pretty speed editing process, not need ferrari. wanted stay below $1000, alas, have arrived @ on $500 above planned budget, savings not hurt speed welcome. also, compatability issues. system used exclusively cs5 premiere, after effects, , few other milder prorams. our family has hobby of filmmaking, have begun tackle larger projects , our old platform slow. video card has nvidia has cuda technology support mercury playback.

allowing 2.5 year difference in technology, "somewhat" similar built - link in http://forums.adobe.com/thread/652694

 

use power supply calculator http://extreme.outervision.com/index.jsp (the pro version) verify size of power supply... have 850 watt, , personal opinion 650 watt unit provides little or no margin future growth (you did mention adding more drives in future)

 

i have mid-tower case... , wish had bought full tower make drive cabling easier

 

if case has vented/drilled side, consider adding fan blow cool air directly onto motherboard , nvidia card... have 2 side fans

 

your motherboard should have cables need... check sure, able order sata cables if needed

After Effect warning: A problem occurred when processing OpenGL commands

i have after effects cs6 in computer cs5.5 installed. 64bit windows 7 ultimate 20gb memory , 2 amd radeon hd 6900 series display adapters drivers updated hour ago (driver date 27.7.2012, version 8.982.0.0).   when trying use after ecffects, error message " after effect warning: problem occurred when processing opengl commands " when clicking composition window.   what done? not much, i'm afraid. need older graphics driver. other disable second card or play configuration. unfortunately not smart person decided cs6 no longer need manual opengl control user, there's no way suppress within program force-revert software-only modes in case of such issues...   mylenium More discussions in After Effects adobe
