Thread: Connected to wireless router but Internet not working

hi,

complete newbie ubuntu , have installed 11.04 on samsung netbook n145 plus usb , dual boot windows 7. installed fine , looked unable browse internet. windows 7 connects , browses fine.
i've done of own research , can see wlan0 card in ifconfig , can see have ip assigned router. have tried ping google name , ip without success. tried adding nameservers resolv.conf didn't expect work pinging ips fails also.
tried disabling ipv6 in /etc/sysctl.conf following code no avail suggested on forum.

#disable ipv6
net.ipv6.conf.all.disable_ipv6 = 1
net.ipv6.conf.default.disable_ipv6 = 1
net.ipv6.conf.lo.disable_ipv6 = 1


suggestions made have been use different network driver , have looked @ 'additional drivers' nothing comes up.
looks common issue still haven't found definitive solution newbie instructions on how fix.
complete linux novice, trying learn @ moment windows consultant quite happy try long step step instructions.
further info, had same issue jolicloud.

further test installed jolicloud , ubuntu onto wife's msi netbook , worked first time suspect wireless card driver.

appreciated want use ubuntu, thanks.

i not suspect wireless card if getting ip address wireless router. can post output of ifconfig wireless card?

After Effect warning: A problem occurred when processing OpenGL commands

i have after effects cs6 in computer cs5.5 installed. 64bit windows 7 ultimate 20gb memory , 2 amd radeon hd 6900 series display adapters drivers updated hour ago (driver date 27.7.2012, version 8.982.0.0).   when trying use after ecffects, error message " after effect warning: problem occurred when processing opengl commands " when clicking composition window.   what done? not much, i'm afraid. need older graphics driver. other disable second card or play configuration. unfortunately not smart person decided cs6 no longer need manual opengl control user, there's no way suppress within program force-revert software-only modes in case of such issues...   mylenium More discussions in After Effects adobe
