Thread: 'wlan0 is on channel -1, but the AP uses channel 6' with airplay-ng

so, i'm trying crack wep password kicks, keep running same error. when try use airplay-ng packet injection, gives me error
" wlan0 on channel -1, ap uses channel 6". i've tried setting wlan0 channel 6 manually, doesn't help. spent while searching solution, seemed each page had different, highly complex solution, still doesn't work. have recent drivers wireless card, , meets requirements. so, there solution work?

of time due using airplay-ng on ubuntu machine network manager installed (basically if gnome installed, it's hard work with).

since need airplay-ng control channel nic uses, either need disable network manager (which pain) or use back|track (i prefer backtrack). either install ubuntu server edition, or download , burn backtrack cd can boot (it's live cd). has airplay-ng , aircrack-ng pre-installed, , many other useful wifi auditing programs...

please note, above advice given under assumption personal use only, or authorized wireless security audit.
(i don't care either way, tos might have else )
