Thread: USB Suspend (Powertop)
so, other day running powertop, , asked me if wanted disable non-input usb devices or that. so, pressed u. now, whenever unplug ac on laptop, of usb devices stop working. 2 events related, or behaviour because of else?
on ac, open terminal in full screen:
dmesg | tail -f
pull plug watch messages scroll by.
plug in few usb devices, 1 @ time , observe additional messages.
powertop settings active during current, booted session. revert once reboot, unless make changes rc.local or other bootup script.
believe powertop disables hal's 2-second usb detection rule, can wake processor , use more power. believe it's timer culprit, not 2-second interval, have research more.
check bios settings. there may setting "allow usb devices wake computer" under power management. see if there other usb-related settings can set.
