Thread: Web development - local dns redirection?

i develop websites on ubuntu (10.04 lts) powered workstation runs desktop development environment , local webserver (apache 2, mysql etc.)

of time can access development sites fine url such "http://dev/<clientsitefolder>" , fine.

unfortunately cms , ecommerce applications store site url in either configuration files, database or both. examples of magento , joomla. use url rewrites , like.

able redirect full , correct url (e.g. www.example.com local folder while working on it). sure gives me enough rope means no longer have muck around local configuration files , special database scripts , like.

ideal me able switch local mapping real mapping @ , mapping work virtual box emulations (they run sorts of different browsers testing purposes).

can point me relevant code/documentation or allow me this?
