Can only view pages in preview not browser

hello,

 

i bought book on business catalyst , going through each chapter having trouble viewing page in browser.

 

before book set custom site in bc , imported dreamweaver, made sure include in editable region area {tag_pagecontent} tag , worked fine.

 

with book had me set template site template impressum , imported dreamweaver though preview when in bc admin section not let me view page correctly dreamweaver when try view in browser unless remove .htm section of address views correctly.

 

for example if have site name following:

 

.businesscatalyst.com/about.htm

 

it says page should be:

 

---------------------
page not found
we not find web page requested. either because:
there's error in address or link.
or have entered address or link incorrectly.
---------------------

 

but if browser address site name followed by:

 

.businesscatalyst.com/about  (without .htm)

 

then can view page correctly in browser. , same every page in website.

 

i haven’t changed when imported dreamweaver. tried cutting , pasting in {tag_pagecontent} tag see if helped didn’t.

 

any ideas on how make work correctly in browser?

interesting, not sure hid in v3, if switch old interface in admin site and:

 

click on admin --> search engine optimization

 

and turn on

 

 

note: if want show file extension disable friendly urls
