have problem compiz , card, after few weeks doesn't work ubuntu, had troubles kind of cards, able solve forum time gave up.

driver gm965/gl960 working compiz effects although enabled not applied desktop environment.

also ubuntu version is:11.4

compiz --replace gave errors, can't capture because gui becomes unresponsive.

i have vga compatible controller: intel corporation mobile gm965/gl960 integrated graphics controller (rev 0c) in hp compaq 6720s laptop. have had problems compiz. couldn't use special effects since system freezes; tried use normal effects there glitches in screen (not working properly) , cpu load high.

decided use metacity instead of compiz, of course no visual effects. can enable compositing metacity have dock without visual effects. ubuntu 10.04.
