Thread: Startup problems, boots into non-graphical environment.
this happens when boot old pc dual booted xp , ubuntu. (this issue might factored nvidia graphics card.)
boot ubuntu, linux 2.6.35-30 generic
black screen comes on alot of text saying nvidia @ times , bunch of other stuff hard read.
gets screen says ubuntu 10.10 ubuntu tty1 (i named computer ubuntu telling me ubuntu 10.10 *your computer name*)
ubuntu login: eth1 no ipv6 routers present
login:
when login tell me 11.04 available , gives me regular mike@ubuntu:~$
try "sudo service gdm start" , send me desktop , process "whatever process number" running. , give me nothing reboot. can fix this? thank you.
edit: , other times tell mefrom there have reboot , try luck again.4.574053 xgifb: mode 'none' not supported anymore. using default
ps updated graphics card default ubuntu repo official sites driver download.
try pressing alt + f7 gui.
if not started.
try startx
or restart it
sudo /etc/init.d/gdm restart
or start if never started @ all
sudo /etc/init.d/gdm start
