Thread: Ubuntu slow performance after Software Update

hi folks,
applied recommended software updates today , post-installation, ubuntu quite slow in everything. right booting shut down. mundane actions launching firefox takes lot of time.

video play non-smooth i.e. playback clock ticks on frames move slow. silky smooth prior update.

think culprit kernel update. don't remember kernel version running before upgrade, running ubuntu 10.10 32bit (i had myriad problems 11.04...so downgraded 10.10).

right linux kernel 2.6.35-30 & gnome 2.32.0.

there anyway can roll updates? don't want fresh installation of 10.10 @ time...

appreciate folks.

thanks,
- burner

ok,
confirmed linux kernel 2.6.35-30 indeed culprit. booted 2.6.35-28 , things seem great.

question, there anyway me make ubuntu boot kernel default?

can gimme instructions on how remove kernel 2.6.35-30? open synaptic , search above kernel , uninstall it? uninstall associated packages installed during update?

in advance
