Thread: VPN and mail issue

i have rather strange problem caused vpn connection. have ubuntu server running davmail in office allows me access work exchange server thunderbird.

when in office works fine. problem arises when connect office network via vpn connection. find can send small emails (i.e. simple message few lines of text) larger emails won't send (i.e. email 100kb pdf attachment). thunderbird starts send email hangs @ around 40% of sending , times out.

while connected vpn can access ubuntu server via ssh , webmin, windows sbs server via rdp (which acts vpn server) , shares on same server.

problem seem lie vpn connection don't know start looking issue. our external people unlikely of seem consider linux kind of voodoo or devil worship.

have tried vpn 1 external location suppose problem lie router.

i'm guessing office using pptp since vpn server running windows? might need play settings in client configuration mtu.

option add openvpn ubuntu server , build own separate vpn connection. have openvpn boxes running @ customers' sites in client mode. during boot make connection out through office firewall machine maintain , set tunnel. i've never had problems moving files of arbitrary size on openvpn.
