Changing the style of certain words in a textbox

hi, new adobe scripting (new in general took class on vb in spring) interested in underlining portion of content in series of text boxes.  have 690 serial numbers similar this:

 

tfa - 064/249 - 0753 - a

 

i want underlined portion shown above underline.  have 8 chapters have unique style while have serial number, in different fonts different kerning etc (all text style applied text box).  clarify, if helps, underlining doesn't start @ same character position in every serial number.  in example, underlining starts @ 17th character , might start in little 14th character. 

 

the last reference guide did, made copy of underlined portion of data in seperate text box, applied style (including underlining element), , cut , pasted each underlined portion on ununderlined portion (as cut , pasted every serial number seperate text box.

 

any appreciated , in advance!

could please give more clear picture on text part because if want find 4 digit number enclosed hyphen not big thing can go grep option.

 

but feel u need more !!!!!!!!!!!

After Effect warning: A problem occurred when processing OpenGL commands

i have after effects cs6 in computer cs5.5 installed. 64bit windows 7 ultimate 20gb memory , 2 amd radeon hd 6900 series display adapters drivers updated hour ago (driver date 27.7.2012, version 8.982.0.0).   when trying use after ecffects, error message " after effect warning: problem occurred when processing opengl commands " when clicking composition window.   what done? not much, i'm afraid. need older graphics driver. other disable second card or play configuration. unfortunately not smart person decided cs6 no longer need manual opengl control user, there's no way suppress within program force-revert software-only modes in case of such issues...   mylenium More discussions in After Effects adobe
